WAM’S Healthcare Consultants was established in 2010 by Wanda Ali is a registered nurse case manager who recognized the benefit of teaching nurses how to effectively coordinate their patient’s care for improved health outcomes.
WAM’S developed their first continuing education class entitled Case Management and the New Health Care Law.” This class was developed to help healthcare professionals understand and prepare for the implementation of what we have come to know as the Affordable Health Care or "Obamacare." It is through these first step that WAM’S recognized the “power” of empowering people to take responsibility for their health and the health of those entrusted to their care.
In 2012, WAM’S recognized an increase use of “Observation Status,” which is a non-inpatient admission status. This new non-admission status caused many patients financial hardship and anger especially when it came to discharge and they felt unprepared to leave the hospital. WAM’S recognized educating the healthcare professionals only was not enough to impact health outcomes; "the consumers must be educated." This decision led WAM’S to move towards including consumer education to their company’s profile.
WAM'S founder, Wanda Ali has more than 38 years of clinical and administrative experiences. She has a Bachelor’s in Healthcare Management and a Master’s in Business Management.
